This and That

Another month in quarantine has gone by. You would think I would take advantage of this time to paint but for some reason I have not done that.  Not one new painting in the past month.  Instead I have become obsessed with doodling.  I can curl up on the couch with a tablet and sharpie and binge watch something on TV at the same time.  I have run out of audio books and the library has not opened yet so it is Netflix or HGTV instead.

I do have something I painted back in January to show you.  I forgot to post them at that time.  It is a set of wooden coasters.  I love doing these designs.

Since doodling has taken priority in my artistic life and, what I have been doing has been for my own pleasure and not for sale, I made a decision that might help me sell them in the future.  What I have done is to use an 11X14 Sketch pad instead of the smaller books I have been using.  I do the doodle in an 8X10 size that can be matted and framed if I so choose.  Here are a few of the larger doodles I have done. Keep in mind how they would look if matted in black and put in an 11X14 glassed frame.

I have more that I have done in this larger size but this is all I will show at this time.  I am also considering trying to do one on a 16X20 stretch canvas.  If I do that I will show it on my next blog post.

While I have been doodling Roger has been keeping busy with some home improvement projects.  Our townhouse has a small back patio that was in pretty bad shape.  We never used it because it was so unsightly.  The fence was weathered wood and was looking pretty bad so last fall we had it replaced with a white vinyl fence.  The patio itself was painted concrete in the center and dirt around the edges. Roger has done lots of brick work in the past so he decided to do the whole thing in brick pavers.  I turned out great.

We have ordered a new patio table and chairs online and they will be delivered next week.  They will match the small set we already have.

Since the patio looks so good we decided to put a stained glass panel in our patio door.  We did it in all clear glass and it looks really CLASSY!  It helps to brighten up our sun room and looks good both inside and outside.  I'm so happy Roger has the ability to build these beautiful creations.

It is hard to get a good picture of stained glass.  It doesn't show the sparkle that comes when the sun shines through the glass.  These were the best photos I could get.

Today is the day that we go into phase 2 of things being opened.  I should be able to get my nails done next week.  I have been cutting Roger's hair and he is not sure if he will have me continue to do it or go back to the barber shop.  I must say I have done a pretty good job.  If this phase goes okay things like the bowling alley and gym may open in a month.  In the mean time we will stay home except for trips to the grocery store and we will continue to take walks everyday weather permitting.
