Life in Quarantine

For us, life in quarantine is not a whole lot different than our regular life.  We were still able to bowl on Monday because there are only 30 of us on the league but I would guess that it will be cancelled after this week because they have dropped the number of people gathering to 10.  The Y has closed so we are now doing our workout routine at home using a CD.  Our church is live streaming Sunday services.  Other than that things are pretty much the same for us. 

I always have a full pantry full of food and paper and cleaning products so we did not have to make a mad dash to the store to stock up.  We will be okay for a long time. 

Since we retired we have filled our time with our hobbies so we continue to do the same.  I have not done a new painting in over a month but I have created over 50 pieces of art in that time.  On Valentines day I decided to do a heart doodle to post on Facebook.  I had forgotten how much I enjoyed doodling in the past.  I used to doodle when we were traveling and have filled a number of books but since we moved to NC almost 2 years ago I have only done a few.  I made us for lost time this past month .  All of my new doodles are done in only black on white.  I decided not to use color on the originals.  I can scan them and make my own "coloring book" if I fill the urge to color. 

I will not post all 50 that I did recently. I chose 10 to show you starting with the one I did on Valentines Day.

I have never sold any of my doodles.  I just do them for fun.  I have used a few for inspiration for paintings and may do so again in the future. 

Since I haven't done a painting for a month I am in the mood to do one.  Roger suggested I do a southwest painting so I will take that suggestion and do a "Surreal Saguaro".  The funny thing is that I came up with the idea for that painting long before I started doodling.  I was at an art opening and a lady came up to me and said I see you are a Zentangle artist.  I said I had no idea what that was and she told me that it was a form of doodling.  I looked it up when I went home a realized she was right. I just so happened we were leaving on a cross county trip the next day so I took a sharpie and sketch pad with me and doodled in the car. By the way, I don't call what I do Zentangle any more because that is a copyright name so I just call it what it is, doodling.
