5 Peacock Paintings

I started a new peacock painting awhile back but things got busy and I did not have any painting time in the past few weeks.

One of the things that happened is that we had a visit from our friend Sally who was here for a week.  She and her husband Bob were very close friends when we lived in Ohio.  Bob passed away about 6 years ago.  Shortly after he died Sally moved to FL.  I spent a week with her in 2017 and last March Roger and I flew down for a week.  We told her that now that we were living in NC it was her turn to visit us.  We had a great week together.

After she left I got back to painting and finished this latest painting in my Peacock Collection.  I call it "Fabulous Feathers.  Size is 16X20

Here are the other paintings in this collection.  All were painted in the past few months.  This one is Peacock Pride and it is 20X16

Next is a 14X11 painting called "Posh Peacock"

Here is "Peacock Panache"  Size 24X10

I have to include "Contemplation" in my Peacock Collection.  Size is 14X11

I am done with painting peacocks and will move on to other subject matter.  I started a new painting today.  This painting has special meaning.  It is in memory of Roger's cousin Mickey who passed away last year.  I will tell the story in my next blog post after I finish the painting.

I sold two paintings at the Owl and Rabbit Gallery last month, " Mighty Mustang" and "Run with the Wind."  I will do new versions of both soon.

All of these paintings are on stretch canvas except "Contemplation" which is in a frame.  When we made the move to NC I gave away all of my empty frames.  Now that the weather is warm and yard sales have started I am beginning to get a new collection of frames.  I still have a good number of stretch canvases so will use them up before I do many framed paintings.

A number of new paintings and an award

I claim the title of "Queen of Third Place".  I won a third place award in the Burlington Artist League Senior Art Competition. I entered a chair that I had painted in the 3D category.

I have won 12 awards since I started entering competitions in 2007.  I have 5 third place, 4 honorable mentions, 2 People's Choice Awards and a special award from the Oro Valley Historical Society for a contest they had for the best painting of Steam Pump Ranch.  Here is that painting which I titled "Images of Steam Pump Ranch".  It now hangs at the Ranch.

I completed 3 new paintings since my last post.  This is one that I did for myself to hang in our powder room after we do the remodel.  It is another in my Study in Patchwork series.  This one is #5.

This is a large painting.  It is 30"X24".  I've mentioned before that, for what ever reason, photos of large paintings Do not look large when I post them.  The Steam Punch Ranch painting is 14X11 and looks larger than this one.

In the past I have done a number of paintings of flowers in vases.  The titles name the type of flowers and the color of the vase.  This one is "Tulips in Teal Vase". Sizes is 20X16.

The third painting I did is one more for my peacock series.  I call this one "Peacock Panache".  Size is 24X12.

This is another example of the photo not reflecting the size of the painting.

I am currently working on another peacock painting.  I don't know why I have been facinated with peacocks lately.  A few years back I when we took a trip to San Antonio I was haunted with peacock objects everywhere we went so when I got back home to AZ I did my first peacock painting.  I sold it at a one man show I had at the Skyline Country Club.  I recently did another version of it and had fun, so decided to do a series to see how inventive I could get painting peacocks.  The one I am working on now is the forth in the peacock series.  When I finish it I will post photos of all 4 of the peacock paintings in the series.
