"Sunflowers in Red Vase" and other "Red" paintings

I finished two paintings this week that I am going to enter into the RED exhibition along with one other I did a little while back.  I think this is going to be a fun show.  All the paintings have to be at least 60% red.  I love art exhibitions with a theme.  This show starts in April and I can"t wait to see "RED"!  Here are the paintings I hope to have juried into the show.

Tomorrow is the opening reception of the Time Travelers Show.  Currently I have paintings in 4 different show in Tucson.  I am happy to say I have had my paintings in overlapping shows for over 2 years.  I enjoy creating art and feel blessed to have the opportunity to have them hang in shows for people to enjoy.  I am also blessed that many of my paintings have sold and are now hanging in homes.

I haven't decided what my next project will be.  I'll probably start something new tomorrow morning.

I am currently working on a couple of paintings that I will submit to an exhibition titled "RED".  I'll post photos when they are done.

More Domino Train Stations

I finished six more train stations.  Now I have a total of 10 for customers to choose from.  Here are photos.
I have four more train stations base coated and about six unpainted but I think I'll work on something else now that I have a nice selection of finished ones.  I am not sure what my new project will be.  I have boxes full of trays and bowls and other objects.  I will sort though them and see what gives me inspiration.  I also could do a canvas painting.  Hmmm...What will I do next?  I'll have to think about it.

Happy Valentines Day 2015

Can't believe it is mid February already.  Seems like it was just Christmas and New Years Day.  The beginning of 2015 has been a busy time for me.  I have not had as much time for painting as I would like. Among other things I have been doing some design work for 3 stained glass windows that Roger has been commissioned to make. I wanted to get my Mexican domino train stations done ASAP because I had someone contact me last year who was given one as a gift and had friends who wanted to buy one.  Lucky she was not in a hurry.  I finally got 8 done but before I had a chance to call her I had a lady  call me who was visiting from out of town.  She had played dominos with someone who had one of my train stations. She wanted to take one back home and she was leaving Tucson soon. I finished the 8 train stations yesterday morning and she came with two friends later in the morning and they each bought one.  In the afternoon I had a new friend and her husband come for a visit and she bought one also.  That means 4 of the 8 are gone!  Now I have to get busy painting to replace them so that the first person who contacted me has a nice selection to choose from.  Here are photos of all 8.
The four above are sold and the four below are available for sale.
I just remembered that I sold another one earlier in the week to a friend who was here for painting advice.  I had not applied the polycrylic finish but she took it anyway and said she would finish it off herself.  I didn't take a photo of it. The base was turquoise and the design was two geckos.
Since it is Valentines Day I am posting my large Endless Rose painting that I gave to Brian & Sarah as a gift for their new apartment in Falls Church, VA.

Where have I been and what have I been doing?

Did you miss me?  It has been three weeks since my last post.  In that time we flew to the DC area to see our son and his wife and then we drove with our son to north GA to meet up with our other son and his wife and see a cousin who lives in that area.  After about 5 days we drove back to DC and spent a few more days before flying home.  Since I got home I had lots to do playing catch-up for the time we were gone.  I finally had time for painting and completed a painting which I am going to enter in an exhibition which features figurative paintings. The subject matter is something I never did before.  I debated on doing this and decided to give it a try.  It is a partial nude done in my whimsical style.  It reminds me of an art nouveau poster from the 1930's. The title of the painting is "Contemplation" and the size is 14X11.
I entered another painting which is quite a contrast to the one above.  This is one I did awhile back titled "Virgin of Guadalupe".  It is a larger painting size 28X22.
I had a shipment of 24 domino train stations arrive before I left for my trip.  I painted the base coat on 16 of them in the past few days.  As soon as I am done with this post I will start painting the designs on them. Here is what they look like now.  Hopefully I will have them done in a week or so.

Tomorrow I will be doing something new in my art life.  I was asked by SAACA to be a judge for an exhibition done by veterans which will be at the local VA hospital.  I was honored to be asked to do this and look forward to the new experience of being a judge.
